How often do you turn to the prophets and the minor prophets to be more specific, for solace or even instruction on how we can navigate these difficult and troubling times? They are an excellent resource as the prophets were writing letters to their communities with just such instructions! This Sunday I will be sharing with you what the prophet Habakkuk shared with his people as they were in the process of being exiled, and their land was under duress. His encouragement is to lean into intimacy with God so that we can access what God has for us, the plan of the new thing that’s being formed, here and now!
It is one of those “upside down Kingdom things” that “yet even now” we can have hope and encouragement, and sometimes even passion toward the work of the Kingdom while everything in our current reality seems to be on a swift decline. Join with me in reading the short, just three chapters, book of Habakkuk. Meditate on Habakkuk’s experience of crying out to God, and the answers God responds with. Sink your anchor deep into Hab. 2:20, the Lord is still on the throne, yet even now!
